Guest Bath Update

From this

Guest Bath

You'll have to use your imagination -
(I forgot to make a "before" pic.)
When we built, we used the
bar lights across the mirror -
I was SO tired of that look.

We found this pretty brushed chrome fixture
on clearance and it was exactly what I wanted.

Ya know - everything looks better when
it's a
 SALE!!!

I used urethane to paint stripes on the wall
when I repainted several years ago.
I didn't want to repaint,
was not tired of this look,
and knew I couldn't paint to match
the wall where the old light once was.
So, Mr. Handy Dandy
designed a board with crown moulding
to mount the new light fixture on.
This solved the problem of the "unpainted" spot on the wall.
I'm liking how it turned out, too.

Mirror, mirror on the wall.
You weren't a pretty mirror at all!!!
But, after finding a frame on the clearance aisle
at Hobby Lobby (love that place!),
painting it to match the woodwork and the
board above, you're the
Fairest Of Them All!!

Moved this from another room -
not sure if it will stay here or not.
It's not quite the look I want.
I'll stumble upon "just the right thing"
for this spot.

Sweet little green birdie.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New updated look
easy on my checkbook, too.
Still not sure if I will paint the cabinet
(hubby says "yes")
but,
I do need to shop for new knobs.
And, I'm thinking about
a new granite countertop, too.
One thing leads to another.
Thanks for stoppin' in.
Have a blessed day!
My Favorite Spot
We spend so much of our time out on the screened-in deck.
We eat all our meals out here when the weather is nice
and have even been known to "bundle up" a bit if it is too chilly.
The Pineapple Candle Holder
a fun "flea" find!!!
Our old pie safe.
We bought this from an estate sale
about thirty-five years ago.
We used it in the family room with our
tv inside - that was before the BIG
screens invaded our homes.
It sat in the storage attic for about five years
until I convinced hubby to bring it down to the deck.
Gives me a fun place to put some "pretties".
A good place for "Bird Watching"
We have a family of owls and
hawks living in the wooded area behind our house.
The owls start "hooting" about six o'clock every night.
An old sewing maching gets a new life -
so handy to use for serving.
I stenciled the top a few years ago
and am happy with the way it has "aged".
The trickling water makes the deck
even more relaxin'.
Kermit is a new addition this year.
He moved into the pond this spring
and seranades us often.
Whatever time of day ---
"Quite Time" in the morning
Lunch at noon
Dinnertime
Enjoying hand-cranked homemade ice cream
Chatting with friends
Taking a nap
...it is my favorite spot.
Playing in my house.....
It was a rainy morning
and I so enjoyed
just arranging and rearranging
my "things".
I'm having fun using the large bell jar
I bought a few months back.
I've had "Springy" things displayed for a while so,
I was ready for a change.
The Moon and Stars Cake Pedestal
was a gift from a co-worker
forty plus years ago.
The "M" is a top/coaster for
my new coffee cup -
a Christmas gift
from a friend -
it came with the
cute long-handled spoon, too.
The red rooster is from Hobby Lobby.
The red arrangement is from Michaels.
The old wash stand in the breakfast nook is
a favorite spot to display more stuff.
The chocolate cup cake with
strawberries on top looks
Good Enough To Eat,
doesn't it?
Well, it's made of rubber,
but yummy-looking especially
under a cloche.
The old brandy sniffer
(my $4 find a few months ago)
has moved from the family room
to the breakfast nook.
The large nest is from our bluebirds
last year.
The little nest isn't real,
but real cute.
How do you like my new
Rooster Lamp?
Actually, it's a heavy iron
door stop sitting in front of a lamp.
Hubby was going to wire it together,
but I'm happy with it just sitting
in front of the lamp.
I am looking for a cute red shade.
I found the door stop while a friend
and I were just piddlin'
around in a antique mall last month.
Fun day - Fun find.
Here he is before I brushed some white paint on him.
I like him much better white, don't you?
Have a great weekend!
Happy Blogging!
Blessings
As we go through this journey of life,
God blesses us so many times.
This past week was one of those times.
Let us never forget that we are
where we are because of
His great plan -
nothing is by chance.
He brought this sweet
group of ladies together this
week because He loves us so
and wants to bless us in
unexpected ways.
This was our ninth year to open our home as a
Bed and Breakfast
for an annual event in our city.
We have always been so fortunate
to have lovely ladies staying with us -
this year was no exception.
From the first
 Hello Hug,
we feel a new friendship forming.
The friendship continues to grow
throughout their stay and beyond.
Chatting before breakfast.
A-h-h-h
Spring is finally here!!!
The beautiful weather allowed
us to have breakfast on the porch.
These new friends have so much to share
and so much fun.
What's cooking?
New friends - old friends and
a "Kodak" moment.
I'll share my recipes in another post.
Ready to shop???
You betcha!!!
Some of our guests
brought grits from their home
state of South Carolina.
I used these dee-licious grits for
a Cheesy Gourmet Grit Casserole.
The grits are in the cutest fabric sack.
I plan to make a cute pillow
out of the sack.
Hey Y'all!!!
Remember the large cloche I
got a couple of months ago and
I said I though I could put
a 7 layer Italian Cream Cake under it?
Well, I decided to start small -
this is only three layers -
and there's still room.
Italian Cream Cake continues to
be our guest's all-time favorite.
 Still lovin' my cloche -
so much fun to use.
I really don't need anymore cloches,
but I continue to look for them everywhere I go.
Crazzzy?  Maybe!
Happy Sunday Y'all.
Enjoy your day -
This is the day the Lord has made
just for
YOU!!!
Easter Wreath
Hippity Hoppity
I've been inspired by all the pretty wreaths
you girls have been making.
I love the pretty netting Kristen uses.
(Check out her pretty wreaths)
But we don't find the netting around here in
spring colors.
This little bunny was my inspiration to
create my own version
of a wreath
that says
 "SPRING"
Cute little medal birdie!
Maybe he will scare all the
"real" birdies away
who always wait for me to hang
something on my door just
so they can start their nest
and raise their family.
I love birds and love to watch them,
but these decorated Easter eggs I found
at the Dollar Tree are the only
eggs I want on my wreath.
It's very scary when you open the
front door and
a little bird flies out of his nest and
into my house.
YIKES !!!
And, ya know what those
little birds do
when they are scared -
scared because
I am fussing at them and
chasing them with a towel?
It ain't pretty, girlfriend.
So, this bunny is standing guard over
my front door and telling the
real birds to go build a home
in the oak tree in the yard.
I sure hope it works!
Happy Spring Y'all!!!
(I hope this bunny doesn't get his
cotton tail frost-bitten.)
B-r-r-r where did spring go?
Fun Find
A rainy day - A fun day for a hunt!!!
It rained all day Saturday so we headed
out to an antique mall about an hour from here.
We weren't looking for anything in
particular, but we did find a treasure or two.
Found this silverplate pie plate
with a
Pyrex insert
$2.99
(Not bad!!!)
And, y'all are always finding super good stuff
at Goodwill.
Well, every time I stop at our local
Goodwill, I think there's no need of me ever going in there again.
But, as we were driving by the Goodwill on our way to
the antique mall,
we wheeled in and found this silver plate
"whatever".
I know it isn't old and probably isn't worth much.
I don't know what it is for, but
I think it will be a fancy "cotton ball holder".
And, for $1.50, I figure it wasn't a bad buy.
While in Goodwill, I also found these
two Community silver plate serving pieces.
They were still sealed in the plastic so they have never
been used.  For $1.00 for the two pieces, I figured
I could serve some good veggies with the slotted spoon
and a spoon or two of sugar with the small spoon.
And girls, I didn't even have to get out the silver polish for these.
(And, I'm still looking for the Goodwill where y'all shop
and get all those nice "finds".)
I'm a sucker for bunnies and for $1.50,
I couldn't leave him sitting on the shelf by himself.
He hopped into my hands and came home with me.
Oh, it might be a "she" wearing the pink.
I told you I like bunnies.
This cute tin gardening bunny was
$5.00.
She makes me smile.
That's all the treasures we brought home with us Saturday.
But, it's fun piddlin' around and looking.
I'm blessed to be married to a guy who also enjoys
Junk Hunts.
