Captured by Cloches

Hello Blogging Friends,

Never had I heard of a cloche until I met some of you and now I'm fascinated by them.  I look for them everywhere I go and have collected a few since my daughter gave me my first one for Christmas last year.  They do make anything you put underneath the bell-shaped glass a little more dramatic.

I want to link with the Cloche Party Marty is having, so I've been snapping pictures this morning.  You've seen some of these before on previous posts of mine, but some of the displays have changed.

This cloche is on my breakfast table and changes with the seasons.

I removed the cloche to show you the
pretty pear made out of natural materials.

My very first cloche - a Christmas gift - has glitzy pears I found at Pier 1 years ago.

I've brought some of my
plants from the porch
to save them from the chilly fall nights.

These cloches sit on top of an old wash stand in my breakfast nook.

We like old things - and our breakfast table is an old family heirloom.
I know many of you paint your furniture and I adore the pretty pieces you
do with chalk paint; however, we have lived through the era of "antiquing" and
prefer our wooden pieces in their original state.  My husband has stripped many
antique pieces of the paint someone thought they wanted.

He would cringe if I thought about painting these old oak pieces.

BUT,
I'm going to find an old piece and
try out the chalk paint on something
that isn't near and dear to our hearts.

Another gift from my daughter - not exactly a cloche,
 but Marty says it's ok for it to join the party too.
This piece changes seasonally, too and never sits in the same room for very long.

Hey, some of you make catty-corner pictures -
I thought I would try that technique too.
I don't like mine as much - maybe I am too catty-womphus.
(Are these words found in Webster's?)
My ten-cent "cloche"
and two dollar silver pedestal.
Gotta love a bargain -
especially a pretty one.

Filled with fall pumpkins and orange dried natural balls of some sort.

This little cloche just says
"Party"
with the colorful dots and
perky little pedestal.

This is actually a cheese dome
but today, it's a cloche
nestled among my fav recipe books.

I'm linking to Marty's Cloche Party.

 Thanks for stopping by.

I hope you enjoy the party
as much as I do.

Have a blessed day.

Something to Crow About

Dishes, Dishes, Everywhere!!!!

When will I stop?
Ok, so I have a weakness
but I use every dish -
I don't "save" them -
I "enjoy" them.

Actually, I am not to blame for
having these adorable rooster
plates in my kitchen.

My sweet daughter found these
and thought of me.  A-h-h-h

Four different "Cocky" designs

Tuscany Rooster
from
Italy

"La-te-da!!!"

I'm enjoying seeing them on my cabinet top for now.
The little bird house with the fall colors
is a gift from a friend -
she went on vacation,
I stayed home,
 watered her plants
and got this cutie.

Actually, a bird flew in the house
a couple of weeks ago and
would have enjoyed settling in here,
but we made him leave.
WHY do those little birdies
like to roost in my wreath on the
front door?
If anyone knows how
to prevent this, please let me know.

Have a blessed day!

Stay warm.
Fall moved in today
with
rain, wind and chil-l-l-l-ly temperatures.
The leaves are falling
and fall is in the air.
I even received a magzine in the mail today
 with lots of Christmas
recipes and ideas
It won't be long.

Fall Fun

What's a girl to do when she's got "fall fever"?

Ya know - when  it's just too pretty to stay inside and clean?

Well, she grabs her guy and heads out to some yard sales -
and, they were all over the place
yesterday and we only hit about 10.

But, it was worth few $$ we spent "sal-ing"!!!

~ Lucky finds ~

This basket of farm fresh goodies were
found at the local Farmer's Market.
The supper table this week
will have some
fresh turnips
fresh greens
and
baked sweet potatoes.

YUM YUM!

Apple Pie made with apples from the local orchard.
(Girls, this is the recipe from the
September Southern Living.
Be sure to put a tray underneath
to catch the drips.)
Easy to make
and oh so good!!!

Yard Sale finds -
Pretty silver pedestal dish
(Wm. Rodgers)
and cute pewter
bunny napkin rings
I will use next spring.

Now, y'all might not call this a cloche,
but it's a cloche to me and for
one thin dime,
I'm liking it a lot!!!

Adorable!

And the price was right on this
pepper shaker (free) to
match the salt shaker we already have.

I can see my new "cloche" with a stack
of chocolate chip cookies underneath.

Do y'all make this stuff?
Peanuts and candy corn!
We make it every fall -
and this year we found
caramel candy corn to mix
with the chocolate candy corn.
A tasty treat.

No cookies in my kitchen today,
so the pumpkin sits pretty under my fun find.

Happy Fall Y'all

Fabulous Fall

...just loving this beautiful fall weather
we've been having the last few days.
I'm not ready to let go of summer yet,
but the crisp mornings,
pleasant days with clear blue skies
and cool evenings
have been such a welcomed relief
from the hot days of summer.
With the change of weather,
I've had a change in my decor a bit too.
Now, I know that comes as a big surprise!!!

I've been seeing these pieces of fruit
made from all natural materials.
I thought it would be a nice change
from the traditional pumpkins and gourds.

Peeking out from under the napkin is
another set of new dishes I couldn't resist.

Then, I found these pretty
placemats last week
"ON SALE" of course.

And then, I wanted new napkins
(see how one things calls for another)
 to tie it all together.
So, I found this cute fabric and made these.
More roosters flew into my kitchen.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

God Bless You and Yours

Red Rooster

- Scoutin' and Shoppin' -
Shoppin' and Scoutin'

two of my favorite past-times.
And, while visiting in Chicago this summer,
I just happened upon these
adorable rooster plates.
I was so excited
when I found them and
they were practically giving them away.
Since I had already bought
two new sets of dishes since Christmas,
I waited to hear what
dear sweet hubby would have to say
when he saw me loading them in my basket.
But, that sweet man helped me gather them
and even carried them to the car for me.
What a man!

He also removed the wood fronts on these cabinet
doors and
replaced them with glass a few
years ago.
I enjoy displaying some of
my "stuff" here.

Doors Open

Doors Closed

(And, seems I'm never satisfied,
so he installed rope lights inside so
my "stuff" can really SHINE!)

Cute - Cute - Cute!!!

And, this little guy
fits right in -
standing guard.

Notice the little wooden strip
holding my plates upright.
Since this wasn't a display cabinet
originally, it didn't have a plate groove.
So, once again hubby came to my rescue
and tacked down a square dowel.
Works perfectly.

And, these new glasses are a
birthday gift from dear friends.

They really look pretty with my new
"ROO" plates!!!

This heavy iron doorstop was a
fun find a few months ago.
He flew up to the top shelf
to hold my Southern Living
Christmas Books.
I would love to hear all the
tales he could tell if he could talk.
I think he has been around a while.

Guest Bath Update

From this

Guest Bath

You'll have to use your imagination -
(I forgot to make a "before" pic.)
When we built, we used the
bar lights across the mirror -
I was SO tired of that look.

We found this pretty brushed chrome fixture
on clearance and it was exactly what I wanted.

Ya know - everything looks better when
it's a
 SALE!!!

I used urethane to paint stripes on the wall
when I repainted several years ago.
I didn't want to repaint,
was not tired of this look,
and knew I couldn't paint to match
the wall where the old light once was.
So, Mr. Handy Dandy
designed a board with crown moulding
to mount the new light fixture on.
This solved the problem of the "unpainted" spot on the wall.
I'm liking how it turned out, too.

Mirror, mirror on the wall.
You weren't a pretty mirror at all!!!
But, after finding a frame on the clearance aisle
at Hobby Lobby (love that place!),
painting it to match the woodwork and the
board above, you're the
Fairest Of Them All!!

Moved this from another room -
not sure if it will stay here or not.
It's not quite the look I want.
I'll stumble upon "just the right thing"
for this spot.

Sweet little green birdie.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New updated look
easy on my checkbook, too.
Still not sure if I will paint the cabinet
(hubby says "yes")
but,
I do need to shop for new knobs.
And, I'm thinking about
a new granite countertop, too.
One thing leads to another.
Thanks for stoppin' in.
Have a blessed day!
My Favorite Spot
We spend so much of our time out on the screened-in deck.
We eat all our meals out here when the weather is nice
and have even been known to "bundle up" a bit if it is too chilly.
The Pineapple Candle Holder
a fun "flea" find!!!
Our old pie safe.
We bought this from an estate sale
about thirty-five years ago.
We used it in the family room with our
tv inside - that was before the BIG
screens invaded our homes.
It sat in the storage attic for about five years
until I convinced hubby to bring it down to the deck.
Gives me a fun place to put some "pretties".
A good place for "Bird Watching"
We have a family of owls and
hawks living in the wooded area behind our house.
The owls start "hooting" about six o'clock every night.
An old sewing maching gets a new life -
so handy to use for serving.
I stenciled the top a few years ago
and am happy with the way it has "aged".
The trickling water makes the deck
even more relaxin'.
Kermit is a new addition this year.
He moved into the pond this spring
and seranades us often.
Whatever time of day ---
"Quite Time" in the morning
Lunch at noon
Dinnertime
Enjoying hand-cranked homemade ice cream
Chatting with friends
Taking a nap
...it is my favorite spot.
